MACHU PICCHU BY CAR 2D/1N

Now knowing Machu Picchu is no longer difficult, much less expensive, now there is a new alternative route to the traditional train trip. Machu Picchu by car is a car trip on a paved road until we reach Santa María and then we continue along a trail to the hydroelectric, this car trips to the hydroelectric lasts approx. 6 hours with stops in some places and then a 3-hour walk to Aguas Calientes. During the trip you will enjoy beautiful landscapes, valleys, snow-capped mountains, a jungle full of flora and rivers that flow down from above. from the mountains with very crystalline waters that will make your trip to the city of Machu Picchu pleasant.

DAY 1: CUSCO- HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANT- AGUAS CALIENTES

Pick up from your hotel is approx. 7:30 am, the tour will begin with a pleasant and scenic walk to Ollantaytambo, we will take a 25-min break. Approx., continuing our trip to the town of Ollantaytambo towards the highest part of this trip called "Abra Málaga" which is located at an altitude of 4316m.snm at the foot of the snowy Verónica. From this point the trip continues with a beautiful landscape, after about 15 min. We will begin the descent towards the jungle, going through different micro climates that make these landscapes a paradise within the majestic snow-covered peaks and making this place a tropical climate. Continuing on our route we will pass through the town of Alfamayo, Huyro located at 1500 meters above sea level, one of the largest tea producers in Peru (te huyro). 

Because it has a warm and tropical climate, you can also see a large number of fruit plantations such as bananas, pineapples, mangoes, passion fruit, tangerines and others.

We will arrive at Santa María located at 1500 masl, a tropical zone, this place is known for the production of large quantities of fruits.

Town of Santa Teresa: located at 1590 meters above sea level, a warmer and quieter place, there are thermal baths known as the Colcalmayo baths, very visited by tourists and known for the production of coffee and coca leaves. Finally, we arrived at the Hydroelectric Company's private terminal Here we can have lunch and get energy to continue our trip.

From here we will start with the walk along the side of the train track approx. 3 hours, following the Vilcanota river from the top of the Waynapicchu mountain will be welcoming us, until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes and accommodation in designated lodgings. After a relaxing bath in your lodgings it will be time to enjoy a delicious dinner.

 

DAY 2: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

approx. At 4:30 am we will start our adventure from a height of 2,200 meters above sea level, we begin our ascent to the citadel of Machu Picchu at 2,400 meters above sea level, this is a 1 hour 30-minute walk. Approximately along a zigzag path through the middle of the jungle or you also have the option of going by bus (not included).

We will meet with the guide at 6:00 am at the main entrance of Machu Picchu, our guide will start at 6:30 am for an average of 2 hours. (main temple, intihuatana, solar tower, sacred rock). After free time to visit Machu Picchu. We will return at 11:00 am or (coordinate with your guide) to Puente Ruinas, walking is 40 min or by bus 25 min. From here you will have to return walking to Hidroeléctrica, which is 2 to 3 hours and finally take the car between 2:20 – 2:45 pm in the private terminal, to return to Cusco and arriving approx. 9:30 pm
